Potty Time

The time has come to try potty training. I have been dreading this as I have heard such horror stories from friends. I told myself that we would try for a week and if I didn't see any progress, we would put the potty away for a while and try again in a couple of months. Dave had purchased a potty a while ago for Chase that has been sitting in our bathroom. I had hoped that it would spur his interest in potty time. Unfortunately it gained a little too much interest as Dave had bought a potty that lit up and sang several little songs. Chase would dance around the bathroom to it. I remember saying to Dave, "I don't understand why it sings and dances. It's a toilet not a toy!" When it came time to use the potty, Chase refused to pee on his beloved toy. This prompted us to purchase a seat that sits on the regular toilet. We tried for a little over 3 days with absolutely no success or progress which told me Chase is definitely not ready yet. That's ok, we will try again in a month or so. At least it was pretty painless. :)

LOL...I can totally hear you saying "its a toilet, not a toy". And it sounds like you are approaching the potty training very reasonably! I didn't do that with JD and about killed us both until I finally gave up and tried again 6 months later with success. For CharlieBoy, I just decided I wasn't even gonna try until he turned three. Well, he's a good month out from 3 and basically potty trained himself in under one week. Piece of cake--for me. Who knows why some are easy and some aren't. I just think you have the right attitude though...much less painful for everyone involved. You are, as I always say, a smart girl! Love you!
