Grayson had his 2 month doctor visit this month. He weighs 11 lbs. 6 oz. already. He certainly is a good eater! He checked out great and even handled his shots like a big boy. He is becoming more alert every day. His sleeping is quite eratic (he will do an awesome 8 hour stretch of sleep one night, and then you won't see that again for a few weeks) although overall he is doing great. He is becoming a bit of a fussy these days, but is definitely not a wailer (thank goodness!). I have begun bottle feeding mama milk to him more frequently as he seems to eat more from the bottle than from me which leads to longer sleeping periods. This began the saga of which bottle to use. Thankfully I had several to try from Chase and I think we have finally found a winner. Overall he is really a good baby...I am such the proud MaMa!

Potty Time
The time has come to try potty training. I have been dreading this as I have heard such horror stories from friends. I told myself that we would try for a week and if I didn't see any progress, we would put the potty away for a while and try again in a couple of months. Dave had purchased a potty a while ago for Chase that has been sitting in our bathroom. I had hoped that it would spur his interest in potty time. Unfortunately it gained a little too much interest as Dave had bought a potty that lit up and sang several little songs. Chase would dance around the bathroom to it. I remember saying to Dave, "I don't understand why it sings and dances. It's a toilet not a toy!" When it came time to use the potty, Chase refused to pee on his beloved toy. This prompted us to purchase a seat that sits on the regular toilet. We tried for a little over 3 days with absolutely no success or progress which told me Chase is definitely not ready yet. That's ok, we will try again in a month or so. At least it was pretty painless. :)

Happy Valentines Day!
Ahhhh...the day of love. We have much love in our house these days as our family has grown and Valentine's Day is the perfect day to celebrate. As I was shopping for a little gift for Chase for Valentine's Day, I came across a toy that teaches the spelling of 3 letter words. I knew Chase would love it as he is a letter freak (he sees letters everywhere...the side of a swingset is the letter A, a pair of pants is the letter V, my Boppy pillow is the letter C, etc.) and already knows all of his capital letters (self taught to our amazement). The problem is that the toy only came with lowercase letters. I was able to find an old version of the toy from a vendor on Amazon that came with capital letters, so I bought it. When it arrived it was the newer version with lowercase letters...bummer. I tried to retun it, but the vendor eventually allowed me to keep it and still refunded my money (sweet!). I then decided to buy another toy with capital letters that could be used with the new lowercase letter word toy...if you aren't following I don't blame you...it was a mess. Anyway, we gave the toy with both sets of letters to Chase for Valentine's Day and he loved it as I knew he would. Julie was kind enough to come watch the boys for a few hours on Valentine's Day so that Dave and I could spend some much needed alone time. We had a very nice dinner and also went to a movie (I don't think we had been to the movies since Chase was born). We had a wonderful time. When we came home and were talking to Julie about the evening she said, "by the way, did you know Chase knows all of his lowercase letters?" Of course I did not. Ugh!

Rafiki
In attempt to find things to do and places for Chase to go this winter, we tried an indoor play area out on Chase's birthday last October called Rafiki. He LOVED it. Since then we have purchased a package deal and Chase goes about every other week. Last week I left Grayson with Julie and Chase and I had a "Mommy and Chase day of fun." We went to Rafiki and had lunch together. It was a special day, and much needed one on one Mommy time for Chase. This week Grayson and I decided to join Chase and Julie at Rafiki. It was packed as school was out that day but we had a great time just the same. Chase loves playing with the fake snow (kinda creepy as it actually feels cool to the touch).

Spring is here...not really
Well we finally got some good weekend weather. It was amost 50 degrees and sunny. We pretended that it was spring and went to the park. The only time of year that I truly dislike is January through mid-February. After that, we start getting some sunny and warmer days that I finally feel comfortable emerging from hibernation. Chase was very excited to see his beloved park again. He climbed to the top of the climbing rocks almost all by himself. Oh...Grayson was there too...LOL. :) Thank you nice weather!!!
