We had a couple of good snow events here in Boise in December that gave us a white Christmas and made Santa's gift of a sled for Chase all the more appropriate. Chase was eager to try out his sled as soon as possible. The day after Christmas we hopped in the car and drove just down the street to a drainage ditch which made a perfect sledding hill. Grayson and I stayed in the car with the heater on and watched as Dave and Chase played in the snow. Afterwards, we came home and played in the backyard. Chase made the most perfect snow angel!

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to everyone! This year's Christmas was a blur with Chase being and overly excited 2 year old and having a newborn in the house. I have to thank Aunt Judy, Uncle Chuck and Dawn for offering to host the day as it allowed me to get some more rest. Chase's loot from Santa and family was a little overwhelming and it took him 3 days to finish opening all of his presents.

Welcome Grayson!
Grayson Davis Heffernan entered the world at 11:40pm on Wednesday, December 17th weighing in at 7 pounds even and measuring 20 1/4 inches long. He is healthy and beautiful...I am in love! I had been in what is termed "pre-labor" (which means feeling miserable with no discernable progress) for 6 days when I had my weekly check-up. The doctor said it could be any hour now, however I was skeptical. I can home from the appointment and got ready for a Christmas party. As we drove to the party, I was is pain however I just though it was bad cramping from being checked at my appointment combined with what was becoming normal daily contractions about every 2 minutes. I told Dave, "I'm not sure how long I am going to last at this party," but I hesitated to go home as Chase's previous nanny, Maria, was watching him that night and he was so looking forward to it. We lasted at the Christmas party until 9pm at which point I was pretty sure I wanted to stop by the hospital on the way home (for my 3rd visit...yeah, that's right, 3 times). Twenty minutes later when we arrived at the hospital I was sure we were staying. We checked in at 9:30pm and Grayson was born just over 2 hours later. WOW!!!
Chase is taking on the role of big brother as a champ although I was a little concerned at first as his first reaction in the hospital was to cry "no, no" and attempt to push Grayson out of Dave's arms. Apparently he has grown past that (in 2 days) and now is very gentle and loving toward the baby.
We are loving being the parents of two handsome little men!

35 weeks and counting...

I am now 35 weeks and miserable...I mean and counting. My back is killing me (nothing that a prenatal massage can't fix...of which I purchased a package deal of 3 all together) and I am having trouble sleeping, however I really can't complain as the pregnancy has gone pretty well overall. I tell Dave, "It's not like I am going to be getting any more rest once the baby arrives anyway." None the less, I am eager to meet our new little man and if the doctor is correct, he should be here in the next couple of weeks even though my official due date is January 6th. I have decided to boycott all Christmas parties in which dancing is the main event as that would not be pretty at this stage. This still leaves at least 3 to 5 parties that we plan to attend. We had some pregnancy pictures taken to document our journey.
